"Wittia Amazonica" Hybrid Epiphyllum cutting
This is a rare epiphytic cacti with almost BLUE flowers. This is unheard of in the world of cacti! Thin, lobed branches reminiscent of epiphyllum. This is a jungle plant, needs humidity, warmth, and sun protection; as the name implies, it is an epiphyte from the Amazon jungle canopy provides warmth, and sun protection; as the name implies, it is an epiphyte from the Amazon jungle canopy.
This is not really an EPI but a very close relative called 'Wittia Amazonica'. it has been a subject of Epiphyllum hybridizers for sometime due to the blue coloring but although its very fertile it tends to bloom in the middle to the end of most Hybrid Epis bloom time. Very rare and seldom offered, this species is very, very hard to find. Very easy to grow, roots easy, grows fast during summer months, simular growing culture as epis, likes humidity and being misted in warm months, comes from the rainforests so loves the misting high humidity! but it does have one special requirement and i put it in bold below. YOU CANNOT LET IT GO BELOW 50 DEGREES OR SERIOUS STEM DAMAGE EVEN LOSS CAN OCCUR!!!! This can be grown as a houseplant as long as it gets plenty of indirect light. If you do get a little damage after winter no worries grows super fast during summer just give fresh soil in spring. Tends to bloom around June to July. The buds look like skinny blooms so they last a good month or more till that finally open and it stays open a week or more, another reason to try it as a cross.Self fertile too, so you can get cross polination with out doing anything.
